Mixing Prints For Summer

I've been inspired a lot lately by prints and I was especially inspired by Beyoncé Vogue September issue. And I wanted to create a no fussy summer outfit centered around mixing prints, glam and comfort. The printed bomber from BEBE is perfect for the awkward weather we've been having here in NYC. It's incredibly light weight and great for moving about your day comfortably.

I wanted to glam this look up by going for my black sequin midi skirt. I love that the two pieces did not compete with one another. I whore platform shoes to add comfort and edge. My cow print handbag worked well with  my look and I predict a resurgence of cow print everything coming out this Fall/Winter. I'm a true Texan girl so western wear is a no brainer.

Adding anything extra to this look would have been an over kill so I finished my look off with my square gold earrings which has worked well with everything!

Do you guys have any favorite prints of the moment? Drop a comment down below!

How To Instantly Elevate Your Outfit

I've found that pairing gold with everything is not only chic but a great way to elevate your style game. Things took a turn when all of my favorite silver accessories begin to pop out at me too.

The original formula for this look started with my gold blouse. Although I still wanted to remain casual I went for my color block  denim skirt that never fails to pull everything together.

My bag from Ebay had just arrived and I was more then anxious to test drive it. My studded strappy sandals gave the outfit an extra embellishment.

After shimmying around in this blouse I decided it was time to test drive the look and what I discovered was that it's still too hot to wear this blouse. Can we say "HOT BOX"! This blouse left me wallowing in my own fashion sweat. I want lie I rushed home to take it off immediately. Such a rookie mistake to challenge the sun to a match. It won fair and square. lol! My next post however will be #ootd number two. A more subtle and less fussy look compared to the topper on this.

As summer sketches to an end I'll be sure to rework this blouse on a much cooler day. After all the shirt had me at first sight. :-)

This Is My Favorite Accessory Right Now

Rainbows make me happy! I'll also bet they make you happy too. I've seen rainbows everywhere trending from bags, shoes, jewelry and I'm loving it. I found these cool pair in a random discount store but I've searched the internet to find a similar pair and other rainbow items I'm loving.

Watermelon is my favorite summer fruit. I've seriously eaten it everyday this summer and can't get enough.

must-have summer accessories

My outfit was quite simple this time around. I wore my black high waist trouser with a striped button up. I tied my button up to make it more interesting. By adding lots of accessories like my tortoise sunglasses, some arm candy, and a few rings it definitely gave my look the amp it needed

I know I talk a lot about adding accessories to every look but it's the best way to pull an outfit together and look instantly chic. I call it the "I woke up like this" affect! Yes you did and your outfit is badass too.  Ha!

The Best Bodysuit Ever

It's not every day when I reach for a bodysuit but I've recently discovered the geniuses and functionality about them  again and I'm wondering why I've never took to them the first time.

Let's face it, a great bodysuit has to be comfortable and stylish. Putting together this look was  one and done. I love the fact that it's one shoulder, all the better for showing off your décolletage right? Right! ;-)

Besides the fact that this bodysuit is a quick solution to getting dressed, I'm also excited that it's color block which makes pairing any bottom with it a dream. Because the suit is sporty chic I decided to contrast the sporty feel of it with a chartreuse wrap midi skirt for a chic approach. Chartreuse is a great summer color and pairs well with just about anything.

I was gifted with this bag from a good friend. It is actually a camera lens case but I decided I liked it better as a cool mini bag because of it's unusual shape.

Rainbow Shoes And A Velvet Top

Woah! I just noticed a pattern. I've worn velvet tops now twice in a row. Check out my last blog post here for another velvet number featuring my bright orange mock neck top. This one is different because it is halter which is much easier to wear during the day when the sun is blazing. And also looks quite sexy at night because of the shade and cut.

I love retro pieces like this super hot pink belt that is actually from my matching trench coat. Pulling belts and sashes from other items in your closet is a great way to maximize your wardrobes potential.

How coincidental is it that my lastest shoe purchase from Ebay matched this umbrella perfectly. You may remember these shoes from my latest IG story when I asked my followers to buy or not. Most of you guys said, "yes". And voilà they are here!

Confession: "I love a good ugly shoe"!

I had amazing time going SKATING in this look at a Beyoncé versus Jay-Z skate party. You wouldn't believe the amount of times I fell over and over again. Geesh, I am all bruised from the falling. It was great trying to get the hang of it again but I must admit I've always been an awful skater. Lol!

An Orange Monochromatic Summer Outfit Idea

I finally had the chance to put together a monochromatic summer look. And I love that I went with such a vivacious orange! It's bright colors like this that speaks to me and makes me feel that much more powerful to cease the day. Wearing this outfit felt like I was carrying the sunset around with me at all times.

The orange crush velvet top is from Urban Outfitters and the matching orange ribbed midi skirt is a thrifted find. I wanted to break up the look with more colors so I popped on my yellow suede Puma's which is from their collaboration with Solange. They never fail to give my outfit that extra edge all while being super comfortable.

I've been shopping a lot lately from Ebay and came across this lime green mini Lisa Perry hand bag. Although it's not for the most practical or every day NYC resident. This mini bag is great in theory if you want to pack extra light and look stylish! It was definitely the star of the outfit with the added pop of color. Mini bags are a trend I can definitely get behind.

The Rainbow Over Manhattan

I'm seeing rainbows. I'm a colorful person by nature. Sometimes I take wearing color to the next level and flaunt it all at once. What better way to wear all the colors then with rainbows?

I must admit I've been a sucker for anything rainbow related. So much so that I even decided to take it up a notch and get matching rainbow accessories. Rainbow is defintely one of summers hottest trend and I rarely ever pass up a moment now to try it out. I scored a pair of rainbow hoop earrings to match with my rainbow tie front tube top and it was a magical pairing.

I bought these stretch high-waist asymmetrical pants last year on sale from Boohoo and have worn them non-stop since. They are perfect all year round and super easy to style. I had a little walk around this cute neighborhood in west village and stumbled upon this pink house. It was the perfect back drop for my outfit.  Hope you all are enjoying your day :-)

The Little Black Dress I'm Wearing All Summer

Wearing all black in the summer sounds daunting but it doesn't have to be if you stick to a LBD (little black dress). I chose to wear a LBD in a slip form to feel a little more free. Because this slip is super simple I decided to spruce it up with lots of accessories and fun eye makeup to standout. To keep with the all black theme I paired my black bow mules with the dress.

Recently I'e been gravitating towards ankle bracelets in the form of bright colors like this super cute bright orange and blue one I came across here. They are the perfect amount of color to add to an all black outfit. I layered on a couple of necklaces and a few dainty rings to complete my look.

It seemed impossible to get a proper picture of my look this day since it rained the majority of the day so I took over a dressing room to snap a few pics. Haha! A girl has to do what a girl has to do!

What Not To Wear To The Office

And just like that, I yet again fell for another dress I couldn't pass up. Purple is my color! I truly believe it compliments my skin tone the best. This dress seemed perfect because of the color block wrapped lapel. It can easily be paired with a turtleneck underneath during the colder months or used as a vest as an additional summer look. Three looks for the price of one!

It was a Monday so I went big and bold with this look. I went for the whole "I may have been in an office but in reality it's my day off and I just look this chic" look! That about sums it up. lol! Although the electric blue eyeliner is a giveaway. This look totally works of course if you are in a creative profession where bold colors isn't distracting.

The Best Vacation Dress

French Riviera anyone? I may not be on a boat sailing coast to coast right now but it never hurts to envision it and then dress as if you are. I've never truly considered myself a "dress girl". I love pairing separates and the challenge of mixing and matching pieces. However, this dress totally caught me by surprise! I love every single detail, from the cinched top half of the dress, to the flexibility of wearing the dress with the sleeves to changing it into off-the- shoulder. I love designers who put extra thought into their garments. It truly makes all the difference and helps with creating a versatile wardrobe. Did I mention the opposite side of this dress is blue so it creates a different look completely.

So you may want to know where I actually wore this outfit to. I've been having the most fun exploring my backyard which is NYC.  There are endless activities and I decided on this day to make a small trek to Liberty Island. I'm into open fields to picnic and lay about, small trails to visit historic fixtures and informative museums that leaves you curious for more. The weather was spectacular and I welcomed the cool breeze that tickled my face and wrestled my dress!

I decided to belt the dress because it was slightly bigger on me then I thought. I added small amounts of accessories to keep the main look all about the fun and flirtiness of the dress. My net bag seems to compliment every summer look so it was a no brainer to go with this bag.

This Crochet Dress Made Heads Turn!

summer crochet dress

The moment I laid eyes on this crochet midi dress I knew it would be worn to pieces all summer long. It is the perfect shade of blue and how about the ventilation system for criss sakes. It keeps getting better, cool breeze approved! Although the dress speaks volumes on its own. I couldn't help but add to every detail by pairing the look with lots of standout accessories. I've been in thrift shops a lot lately and this sequined black bag and assortment of  bangles are proof of my love for thrifting. It always warm my heart to find these little gems nestled in small corners of the thrift shop.

I wore a lace green bralette underneath the crochet dress because of the extreme low cut front and for a day filled with walking I pulled out my monogram Fendi wedges that are insanely comfortable to walk in.

I spent the day walking around my favorite neighborhood. Dumbo, of course! We had a small picnic near the water and later dinner in soho followed. This outfit with from day to night without any problems.

Drop some of your favorite summer spots below. Im eager to explore some new neighborhoods!

Hello! I'm Back From Japan And It Was A Dream!

Hi yah! I'm back from vacay and it honestly feels great to be back in the city although being in Tokyo felt like I never left it! Japan was amazing and I can't wait to share with you all the photos and perhaps a short vlog about the entire trip. It was definitely a trip for the books and one I can't wait to take again.

While I was away the annual Met Gala happened and this years Met Gala 2018 theme was, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." After seeing all the celebs embodying the theme so gracefully I raced to see the exhibit a couple days thereafter. If you have time I would definitely stop by the Metropolitan Museum to check it out. After the museum we then spent some time walking around Central Park, then the city, stopping to take in  the views and smell the flowers. Spring time in NYC is always the best, the place feels magical that way.

Because the weather was so lovely I wore my white sheer shirt dress paired with a cream slip dress underneath. I picked up this white satchel crossbody while in Kobe, Japan for just under $5 from a random discount store. The entire look felt light and airy, easy for moving about the city.
