The Best Vacation Dress

French Riviera anyone? I may not be on a boat sailing coast to coast right now but it never hurts to envision it and then dress as if you are. I've never truly considered myself a "dress girl". I love pairing separates and the challenge of mixing and matching pieces. However, this dress totally caught me by surprise! I love every single detail, from the cinched top half of the dress, to the flexibility of wearing the dress with the sleeves to changing it into off-the- shoulder. I love designers who put extra thought into their garments. It truly makes all the difference and helps with creating a versatile wardrobe. Did I mention the opposite side of this dress is blue so it creates a different look completely.

So you may want to know where I actually wore this outfit to. I've been having the most fun exploring my backyard which is NYC.  There are endless activities and I decided on this day to make a small trek to Liberty Island. I'm into open fields to picnic and lay about, small trails to visit historic fixtures and informative museums that leaves you curious for more. The weather was spectacular and I welcomed the cool breeze that tickled my face and wrestled my dress!

I decided to belt the dress because it was slightly bigger on me then I thought. I added small amounts of accessories to keep the main look all about the fun and flirtiness of the dress. My net bag seems to compliment every summer look so it was a no brainer to go with this bag.

Hello! I'm Back From Japan And It Was A Dream!

Hi yah! I'm back from vacay and it honestly feels great to be back in the city although being in Tokyo felt like I never left it! Japan was amazing and I can't wait to share with you all the photos and perhaps a short vlog about the entire trip. It was definitely a trip for the books and one I can't wait to take again.

While I was away the annual Met Gala happened and this years Met Gala 2018 theme was, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." After seeing all the celebs embodying the theme so gracefully I raced to see the exhibit a couple days thereafter. If you have time I would definitely stop by the Metropolitan Museum to check it out. After the museum we then spent some time walking around Central Park, then the city, stopping to take in  the views and smell the flowers. Spring time in NYC is always the best, the place feels magical that way.

Because the weather was so lovely I wore my white sheer shirt dress paired with a cream slip dress underneath. I picked up this white satchel crossbody while in Kobe, Japan for just under $5 from a random discount store. The entire look felt light and airy, easy for moving about the city.

Who knew black and gold could make such a powerful statement. I certainly hadn't tried a combo like this in awhile and I'm quite impressed at how this outfit came to be. I also dashed in some silver accessories to spice things up as if the duo wasn't already spicy enough.

From a day filled with events such as stopping by the book store to here a few college kids read poems and short stories to visiting the Maiyet Collective for the launch of Where Mountains Meet. More on that in my next blog post.  I knew I wanted to look sleek and polished which is always a goal of mine when getting dressed. I've been breaking out my white button down shirts lately as they've been my go-to layering piece. I paired the button down with a black cropped vest and  black high-waisted corduroy pants for texture and warmth. I then added my sleek pointy toe kitten heel boots to streamline the look. I finished the look off with my absolute favorite gold bomber jacket from you want believe it, Rainbow! Yep thats right! I also sized up for a more over-sized look.

Happy Tuesday folks! Be sure to check the blog tomorrow for more outfit inspo! :-)

How To Nail A Monochromatic Outfit

nyc street style

Finally the weather in New York gave us a break with temperatures hitting the 70's. Cue in the crop top please! I ceased the moment to get out of a sweater. Finally! And reached for the nearest crop in arms length. You'll catch me rocking this exact top all through Spring and Summer as its the perfect transition shade ever.

With warm temperatures out I still played it safe by pairing the look with my high wasted khaki denim pants. I layered a matching light weight khaki jacket on top for a little monochromatic moment.

outfit of the day

I layered a matching light weight khaki jacket on top for a little monochromatic moment. I love the cropped yet boxy feel of the jacket and how it too is a great transition piece. With Spring only a few weeks away I'm prepping slightly early with light weight jackets I can use as layers in Winter and stand alone pieces in the Spring/Summer months.

To break up the monochromatic feel of this outfit I chose my newest purchase, these violet booties which I caught on sale at Zara for only $20. Yes you heard correctly. They were the last pair left in store. Just when I couldn't find anything I direly wanted upon exiting "BOOM" goes these babies hidden under a shelf on the floor!

I spent this lovely day roaming around the Meatpacking district with Britt! You can check her out here for even more style posts!

Be sure to come back for more style posts throughout the week! Have a great day! :-)

My NYFW A/W 18 Style Diary

NYFW is always a dream. There's nothing like meeting people who love fashion equally as much as you. This season was very bitter sweet between the blistering cold and dreary rain, nothing could stop the high energy that seems to encompass every show goer. For every outfit during fashion week I found some way to incorporate color rather it be through the outfit itself or accessories.

Keep scrolling to read about my fashion week looks.

Day 1

Day one of fashion week is usually the most exciting for me. It sets the tone for the rest of the week ahead and I believe should always be one of your best looks. I like to describe this look as racer chic. The checkered sweater from Boohoo paired with my new favorite vinyl flare pants (also from Boohoo) were the ultimate ode to Nas car drivers everywhere.  I paired it with an extremely over-sized blue puffer coat, sleek gold boots because having one color contrast is never enough. I finished the look with a sporty themed bag from Asos. Day one was like no other from attending the shows at Industria, racing to Panel discussions at Samsung and stopping for a moment to capture street snaps. It was among one of the best days. And I even met a new fashion blogger buddy Emily who has great style and also helped capture these street snaps. Check her out here!

Day 2

chromat afterparty

On day two of fashion week I attended the Chromat after party. It was surely a party I wouldn't miss for anything as last seasons party was just as amazing. I believe I might be starting a fashion week tradition here. We'll call it "Never ever miss a Chromat Party"! lol! For this look I went monoCHROMATIC (haha, get it?) and wore a powdered pink jumpsuit which I thrifted when living in Houston. This look was easy, effortless, comfortable and chic!

Day 3

nyfw autumn/winter 2018

So this look is an official unofficial fashion week look. I took a break in my fashion week schedule to celebrate a close friend birthday. I still wanted to catch the essence of fashion week so I wore a bright yellow mock neck sweater dress from Asos with frayed denim jeans and finished the look with my go-to white booties from Amazon. (Yep, that's right my favorite shoes are from Amazon

Day 4

On day four of fashion week I decided to rock my DKNY military inspired trench coat along with my custom made fit and flare pants designed by ASH the Designer. The fit was amazing and I received tons of compliments on them. It was the perfect outfit for the busy hustle of fashion week. Because the look was on the more neutral side I decided to add a pop of color with a fire engine red bag for more flare!

Day 5

On the final day of fashion week I attended the Rebecca Minkoff X Bumble Bizz panel discussion at the Rebecca Minkoff store in Soho and Bettina Werner Salt Queen gallery opening. What better way to make a style statement among so many other fashionistas then by wearing pops of color all over. Stripes are perhaps my go-to outfit combo over and over agin. It works for all occasions and this day was no exception. I went for a pink and blue striped blouse that had all the old school vibes. The shoulder pads inside gave the blouse a boxy silhouette which I love. I decided to pair it with an old favorite of mine, these embellished denim pants which you may remember from last NYFW (check that post out here). I then completed the look with my yellow bucket bag for an additional pop of color.

So there we have it another fashion week here and gone. I'm super excited to do more shows next season and create another round of fashion week looks. If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment below!

Which day was your favorite look? Let's chat below and as always have a great day! :-)
